Today we finished the information on small bodies in the solar system. The kids REALLY enjoyed talking about comets and meteors. They especially liked asking 'what if' questions. (ie. What if an asteroid hit Earth? What if a comet hit the sun? What if and asteroid knocked the moon out of orbit?) As you can imagine, we had some interesting conversations.
Extra Credit: I gave some impromptu options for extra credit. They could write a short story about a 'what if'. They would have to talk about gravity, inertia, mass, and how those items would affect a 'what if' situation. I also offered to accept extra credit if they wanted to write a spoof of a song relating to meteors, asteroids or comets. (I have one on Unit 1 resources if you would like to take a look.) Due next week: Planet Project is due Tuesday - at the beginning of class Vocabulary is due Tuesday - please use the online text book (log on information to the right) Study guide is due Wednesday Unit test is Thursday!
