I would like to sincerely thank you for allowing me to teach your child this year. I hope they have come away with a greater understanding and respect for the beautiful world they call home. As a final wrap up of the school year, we completed a project about the erosion around the school. Students were asked several questions and were allowed to create a presentation regarding the issue. Attached are some Power Point Presentations and links to my private YouTube were you can view the presentations. Mr. Gillihan will be forwarding their ideas on to Cobb County. I am hopeful that some of their ideas are used in the landscaping of Griffin. They all did a fantastic job and I am very proud of their finished products.

Tomorrow is the final exam (SLO) for earth science. I am attaching a few videos that students needed for clarification. They may also go to the Science Units tab to look at videos from all year. I am also attaching a completed study guide for students to check theirs against. We will have time in class to go over last minute questions before the test. I am excited to see how they do - I'm sure it will be AMAZING! We have been working on the end of the year final study guide for a few days. We will continue to work and review for the next few days. I am assigning a group of questions at a time so students won't get overwhelmed. I am reviewing those questions the next day so it is imperative students come in with their guide complete for that day. Today they should complete 26-77. Below are some helpful videos for the fist 26 questions. We have completed rocks and the rock cycle. I think the students really enjoyed the sticky geology sandwiches. Their sedimentary rocks were definitely cemented and compacted.
Test Monday - We will have a test over sedimentary rocks, metamorphic rocks, and the rock cycle. Friday we spent all day reviewing. Students have a reading for the rocks and a diagram of the rock cycle to study. If they read over these, they should be fine. I am considering extra credit for the test if students bring in the review material on Monday. Please ask your students to bring in the readings. End of the year test - The class final exam or Student Learning Objective (SLO) Test will be on Thursday May 10th. Students will receive a study guide on Monday. We will complete it in class and they will be able to take it home to study. This test will count as their final summative assessment for the year. Homeroom class - Field day will be on May 14th. The students have decided that they want class shirts and they voted on tie dye. We will be dying them on Friday the 11th so they will be ready the 14th. Please send your student in with a white tee shirt to dye and a Kroger type plastic bag to bring the shirt home in. I will also need some large rubber bands. If you are willing and able to donate those, I would appreciate it. I will supply the dye and other materials. This will be fun...and messy! |
